Dog Coat Maintenance
GREAT WHITE NORTH, ALPINE BLAZER, HARBOUR SLICKER, HEAD MUFF, CHILLY SWEATER, AND ALPINE BLANKETS & MATS
Washing Instructions
Machine wash with cold water on a gentle cycle. Always use a mild detergent like Truearth or Nixwax Tech Wash with similar colours. Fasten all buckles & velcro closures before washing. It is important to not use hot water or heat in the dryer as this can damage the coat.
Chemicals
Do not use bleach or liquid fabric softener. Fabric softener will prevent the fleece from retaining heat within the fleece fibers. NikWax waterproofing products may be used to replenish the waterproof shell.
Dryer
Fasten any buckles & velcro closures before placing the coat in the dryer. Set the dryer on the cool setting for a 10 minute tumble then hang or lay flat to dry. Avoid all forms of heat such as warm dryers, fireplaces, hot sunny windows. Heat sources will damage the nylon and fleece material. If unsure of the dryer setting, please hang or lay flat to dry.

General Tips
Re-Water Proofing
Over time, waterproofing wears down. To keep your coat’s water resistance intact, refresh it with Nikwax TX.Direct Wash-In or Spray-On Waterproofing products. These simple-to-use solutions help maintain the coat’s protective properties. Start doing so when you notice beading has stopped, garment is 1 year old, or after a number of washings. Whichever event comes first!
Removing Dog Hair
Keep your coat free from pesky pet hair using a tool like the FurViking Hair Cleaner. Regular removal of fur helps prevent matting and keeps the coat looking fresh and clean. Lint rollers and packing tape also work to pull up hair. Gently running a needle between the rows of Velcro helps to keep it cleared out if you have a hairy pup!
Spot-Check & Repair
Inspect your coat regularly for signs of wear, such as frayed seams or damaged buckles. Addressing any small issues promptly ensures the coat stays functional and durable, ready for all your dog’s outdoor escapades. Replacement buckles can be purchased on our site. They are free when making a new purchase of anything on chillydogs.ca.
