Most dogs benefit from a rain coat in spring. Water-repellent dog rain jackets keep the topcoat dry, which matters because a wet double coat can take hours to dry and will pull body heat away from your dog in the meantime. Short-coated breeds (like greyhounds, pit mixes, and whippets) feel the cold of a wet walk even faster. A well-fitted rain coat is less about fashion and more about keeping your dog comfortable enough to finish the walk.

Wash your dog's rain coat with a technical fabric wash (we recommend Nikwax Tech Wash) rather than regular detergent, which can strip the waterproofing. Re-proof once or twice a season with Nikwax TX.Direct Wash-In to keep water beading off the fabric. Never use fabric softener on a waterproof coat — it coats the fibres and kills the water-repellent finish.
