A dog fleece is made from technical synthetic fleece fabric, which holds warmth while still breathing and drying quickly — ideal for active walks. A dog sweater is typically knit from wool or acrylic and traps heat more passively, so it's warmer for standing still but can overheat during exercise and takes much longer to dry if it gets wet. Every Chilly Dogs fall coat uses a technical fleece lining rather than a knit — the Alpine Blazer for core fall, and the Northern Blazer uses an even warmer Canadian polar fleece for winter-weight warmth.

Every coat is sized across a wide fit range that accounts for narrow-chested sighthounds (greyhounds, whippets, Italian greyhounds), deep-chested sporting dogs (pointers, setters, vizslas), and stocky bully breeds. If a generic pet-store coat has never fit your dog properly, a Chilly Dogs coat almost certainly will.
Fall is when waterproof coats earn their keep — and when a lot of owners realize theirs has stopped beading water the way it used to. Wash your dog's Harbour Slicker and any waterproof outer layer with Nikwax Tech Wash, then re-proof with Nikwax TX.Direct Wash-In. Do it once in October and the coat will shed water reliably through winter. Never use regular detergent or fabric softener on a waterproof coat — they strip and clog the DWR finish.
